Found in the heart of Malta’s capital city, Valletta Apartments 19 are a Boutique Rental Apartment Block situated on the upper part of the renowned St. Paul street. Originally built over 200 year ago, the block has been recently renovated & Masco Security Services was approached to cater for their Access Control and Fire Detection systems.
What problem did the client need to solve?
The client required to eliminate door keys and migrate to a keyless entry (Access Control System) in order to facilitate guest check-ins, especially for those arriving at unpleasant hours. Additionally, the client required a Fire Detection System which is in line with all EU Fire and Safety regulations whilst at the same respecting the building’s historical beauty.
How did we approach the challenge?
A site inspection was carried out by our specialists, where the design and implementation programme for both these systems were developed. Our challenge was to design a system that satisfied three important criteria; the client’s requirements, the latest fire & safety regulations as well as a fast and efficient installation within a specified time frame to reduce business disturbance.
Which systems did we use to solve the problems?
TDSI’s Access Control system was chosen as a proximity card entry system, this was in addition integrated with an energy saving system whereby guests use the very same card to access the apartment and power on the electrical supply, aiding the tenants in reducing electricity consumption.
As for the Fire Detection System, a conventional INIM system was chosen compromised of a combination of heat and smoke detectors connected to a centralised panel. A GSM dialler was also installed for both the client as well as the Civil Protection Department to be notified in case of a fire.
How did we improve the client’s business?
With our Access Control solution, the client now enjoys the benefit of more freedom and flexibility by being able to check in guests regardless of their time of arrival. Moreover, using our energy saving system, the client is also reducing electrical bills along with adopting a more environmentally friendly approach.
Using our professional Fire Detection system, the client gained peace of mind, knowing that the guests and staff members are safe with a system up to the latest EU health and safety standards.
Supplementary installations for Valletta Apartments 19
Satisfied with our professional installation and efficient after-sales service, VA19 approached us again in January 2019, this time to upgrade their old analogue CCTV system with a professional high-resolution IP CCTV system. The installation consisted of a variety of 5MP bullet and dome cameras that offer immense clarity regardless of whether it is a time during the day or night.
Since then, Masco Security Services continued to offer its services to Valletta Apartments 19 and has upgraded an old intercom system to a digital system with integrated code-lock and RFID reader further enhancing the guests’ experience at this boutique accommodation. Masco was also entrusted with the maintenance and upkeep of all fire-fighting equipment meeting the Health & Safety recommendations.
